We are made to need each other. God made Eve for Adam because it wasn't good that man should be alone right? That's in Genesis 2:18. In the same way, God made our babies dependent on us and our nurturing support and love. God made us to be dependent on Him also. How many of us know that babies weren't meant to be alone? From wakefulness to sleep, our babies are dependent on us especially as newborns and toddlers. Although they can fully depend on us now and hopefully always, I pray we will point them to Jesus, as our ultimate provider.
This reminds me of walking with the Lord in this ever changing journey of life and how He wants our dependence to be upon Him. How precious, refreshing and joyous it is in the beginning of our new life and salvation and how it can get even sweeter as time goes by, albeit very different. If all of our God times were identical, we'd surely lose interest in spending time with Him wouldn't we? Don't we want to learn and be challenged as human beings? The new convictions and things we learn about ourselves, the joy of discovering new freedoms and releasing old pains, and bad habits, the unashamed faith to believe and reach out to Him and for others, the pure and devoted worship and time spent in prayer and relationship with Him. Oh, the deliverance and power. Wow, what great God moments!
Aren't we glad that no two moments or people in life are identical? Not even identical twins are identical in personality. Often times they are even different in appearance too. Who wants to be exactly the same as another person, without their own identity or personality? Well, besides wanting to be like Jesus. (I think it would be cool being a twin too). I love that God makes us original and that there are no knock offs in His Kingdom since we are made in His image and as He chooses.
Application: Thank the Lord that He is with us in each stage and journey of our lives. Believe that you are an original and that you have a purpose so you can instill that faith in your children as well. Ask God to reveal your purpose. Think of how God made you different and how He may want to use that and your personality, your appearance, experiences, your testimony (story of your life). Those things you love or don't love about how you were made... Give it all to God and ask Him to use you and your originality for Him and your kids. I am amazed how God wants to fellowship with us, love on us, direct us and guide us, that we may continually have even greater times with Him.
Prayer: Dear Lord, let us remember you-our first love and press on in each stage of faith. Let us look to you and depend on you as our babies depend on us. Thank you for giving us all a measure of faith, making us in your image as originals and setting us apart for you. Thank you that you are always constant and never changing in such an unsteady world. Keep us grounded and in harmony with you and one another. Let our children be full of joy, lacking nothing, having your amazing favor and sense of your love and Spirit always. Let us serve you and fellowship with you frequently and gladly, growing to serve others more as we do.
