Crochet Baby Clothing & Crochet Tips

It's all in the threads.

As Renee (crochet specialist and designer) has mentioned, her grandma would have loved to see all the yarn options available these days. Renee has been crocheting for over 35 years. Taught by her grama, she has a desire to give back and enjoys making beautiful handmade crochet keepsake baby gifts. I like her attention to detail, as she finds the cutest buttons and ribbons for her crochet baby clothing. She also says that her gifts are made with prayer.

When looking for crochet baby clothes, you want to make sure that the yarn used is soft and that it can be machine washable and dryer safe. I prefer the baby barnat yarn since it is made ultra soft and stretchable for busy babies. It is great when washed too.

Crochet Tips:

  • If you don't want to lose your crochet hooks while on the go, you can put them in an empty plastic water bottle.
  • Small safety pins are great form holding a stitch when you want to put your project down.
  • Yarn cutter necklaces, you can get these to wear around your neck so you don't lose them.
  • Write your projects down in a notebook, take photos of your work and make a portfolio so you will have samples if someone wants to see them. Make note of the clothing measurements if you aren't using a particular pattern too.
  • You can use a small plastic grocery bag and hang it on the arm of a chair to hold your yarn so it doesn't get lost or start to roll around as you are doing your work.
  • Little containers the size of prescription bottles work great for storing smaller crochet hooks, pins... and other necessities.
  • By cutting a hole into the center of a plastic (2-liter) bottle to fit your 8oz yarn, you can stay organized by pulling the thread through the top.
  • More tips to come in the future.
  • Have Fun!
