Do you remember the first time you got to see your new baby on an ultrasound while pregnant? If you are anything like me, I bet you cannot forget that blessed first glance at your baby. I remember the visit to the Dr. when my husband and I got to see our first daughter's heart beat and little body in my belly. She was precious and I remember thinking "she has such personality". So much so that I changed her name to match her fun personality since she couldn't seem to stay still during the procedure. I sensed a sweet spirit and fun personality and she is truly that and so much more too. Her sister is too. With her little sister, our second baby girl; I remember having to wait a bit longer to see her on an ultrasound and can't forget that special moment either. Also, at about 5 months pregnant with her, I got to see her and all her growth and again, personality. She didn't want to show us if she was a girl or boy, much like her sister whose umbilical cord was between her crossed legs. Currently with baby number three, it has again been such a blessing and so neat since I have gotten two ultrasounds already and have gotten to see our little angel more than once. I am still touched that he or she is doing well and being blessed and growing... For now, I think this little one seems more mellow than my girls. You never know though. The beauty is that we are all so unique and different, even as siblings and growing up in the same home. God has truly set us apart and made His mark and I just cherish that about my kids, and people in general. God you are awesome!
When is the last time you thought about your first glance at God; His salvation, His love and mercy? I think He tells us to remember our first love because He knows how busy and crazy things can get in our lives and He wants us to remember to focus on Him for He loved us first and He brings great peace to those who keep their eyes focused upon Him. He loves us so much that He even knew us before He formed us in our mother's womb. Jeremiah 1:5 tells us; "I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations." This isn't just for Jeremiah. God knows us, forms us and sets us apart for His good purposes. Doesn't that just bless you parents out there too? Knowing that God has your little one's covered even through all the pregnancy stages, changes and delivery, postpartum...always? I know it brings me great comfort. Especially knowing He is the one who gives and takes away.
Prayer: Thank you Jesus for never forgetting us. Thank you that you do forget our sins and help us to move on. I pray that you would help us all to be thankful for the gift of life that you have given us; to cherish our time with you, our family and friends and to always look at others through your loving and gracious eyes. Help me to never forget my first glance at you and your love for me. Let me cherish that and all you have done in my life, always. Thank you for helping me to always remember the beauty of my children and the first glance into their lives. Help them to grow up strong and courageous in you and protect them always.
