Do you ever feel as if you need to jump start your day and get a pick me up, or a kick in the pants? I sure do. That's why staying in constant contact with the ultimate power source is so important.
On my own, I am insignificant, but with the power of God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). He is the ultimate power source. I try not to get ahead of myself and especially Him since, "Zeal without knowledge is not good; a person who moves to quickly may go the wrong way" (Prov. 19:2).
That may seem funny if you know me since I am not the slowest of the bunch. I tend to be high energy and on the go. With ample energy to spare, I can seem hyper at times and a bit chaotic, spider webbing when I talk and not sitting much can help with that association too. Thanks Lord.
Because I am not naturally a restful person, I can get off track rather quickly if not plugged into my power source (God and His Word). Let's think about how we are a power source for our children and a source of protection. How many times do we ask them to wait-don't eat that, don't do that, don't pick that (poop, snail, trash, slime...) up, don't throw, hit, scream... You get the picture. We do it for their protection and sure, our sanity too. But, ultimately, we do it out of love for them and because we want what is best for our children, right?
Let us be plugged into the power source so we can power up our kids too, living by example. When we realize God is in control and not out to hurt or judge us or our children, it is much easier to surrender to His will rather than our own, trusting enough to wait on Him. If our kids can feel that for us, we are in for a real treat.
Be encouraged that "The Lord is wonderfully good to those who wait for him and seek him, so it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord" (Lamentations 3:25-26).
Prayer: Lord, I wait though only upon you. Please forgive me for often running ahead of you. Help me to rest in you, that I may give that rest, peace and joy to my children and others. Let me offer my energy, time and gifts to you in a sacrifice of praise.
Application: Wait! Before each decision you need to make today, seek God. Take time to ask Him for wisdom and guidance and to mentally worship Him. Then again, wait.
