Isaiah 55:8-9: "My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the Lord. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." Okay, I don't know about you, but that is so refreshing to me. You mean, I can lean upon God for my answers and not have to figure all His things out on my own. Like, I don't have to imagine all His ways and understand them, because I certainly could not. I can really take a chill pill here.
Awesome is the abundant life that God offers if we just believe (trust), follow and obey Him. How many times do our children disobey or try to get around the things we say (to figure it out on their own), only to get hurt or more confused and frustrated in the process? Plenty of times right? Well, we too are just like them in regards to following God at times, right? Okay, the great news here is that it's okay to not know everything mom's. We have grown up hearing "mother knows best" or "mommy knows best", but really God knows best so we can rest in that and take in His peace for our days, His joy and everlasting love to get us through even the silliest and craziest of baby and toddler times... into the early years and teen years too, not to mention adulthood. Yes, because He is our Father who loves us and has our every need considered, who intercedes for us and provides for us, we don't have to "know it all." We can steep in His presence and take rest in Him, amen.
Let's not be the "I got this" mommy who relies completely on self to get through the duties of the day, but let us cherish our times with the Lord and allow Him to speak to us and strengthen us in the process. So, although "mommy knows best" at times, I believe it is from steeping in God's presence and leaning upon Him in His word and prayer- that we get there. Thankfully we can rest in knowing Father God really knows best-always. So, let's show our children who we think "The Man" really is. And let it be God Almighty. He is the author and finisher of our faith and truly cares for us.
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for your wisdom, love and abundant grace and mercy... You alone are worthy of our praise. Let your love and joy permeate us and guide us all in a new and freeing way that we will run to you with arms wide open, seeking to learn and love as you so wonderfully do. As you are our constant, let us also be there for our children and others so that you are glorified and witnessed to them. Let your love go forth in and through us oh God. Give each of us a measure of sanity in the midst of chaos and help us to lean upon your every word and pray daily-constantly...
Action: Think of ways that you may be relying solely on self and ask God to help and give you wisdom, peace and rest to trust Him and give those things to Him. Ask God to direct your steps and seek Him before you make any big decisions this day. Think of your "I got this" moments and see if they left you hanging due to pride or ignorance and again, give it to God. Take rest in knowing that you don't have to know everything because your loving Father does. He's not selfish with His love and wisdom either, so ask away. He will provide for you. Jesus loves you and so do I.
