Devotion: His Ways Are Higher

Have you ever wondered what your purpose is in life or what tomorrow may hold for you? It is a curious question I know. Before I knew Christ, I thought it was my purpose to please others, help them out and excel in my job, school, or whatever else I put my efforts towards. I was kind of a perfectionist. I think that came along with the need to control something in my life and the need to feel worthy.

Reflection: God says that we are made to worship Him and bring Him glory. What a beautiful concept. He is to be the focus of our days. I think in order to get there it is important to pray for His portion for us daily. For instance, when I may be struggling with patience, illness, or being a loving wife I need to pray for God to give me His portion for that day in those areas. When I can wake up and feel as if I am more patient, healthy... then I can move on to another prayer for God's intervention. This can help us to stay focused easier on how we can grow and glorify Him, trusting that He will provide our words and actions for our days. That He will give us that wisdom to help another person, to withstand an argument, to get better if feeling ill and so forth.

I just want to encourage you that you are made for a beautiful purpose and that God sees your every need, wants to provide for it and be your daily portion. As you seek Him to be just that, I believe He will provide and bless you richly and give you all you need for everyday; helping you to respond in situations where you may not know what to do, giving you a heart of submission when you may feel otherwise, helping you bite your tongue when you want to scream something out... Isaiah 55:8-9 "My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord.
'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." Let's rejoice in allowing God to be our daily portion. I would love to chat and hear your stories too.

Prayer: Dear Lord, be our portion daily and help us to rely upon you for all things. Let us seek you in prayer diligently for your will and favor. You are wonderful and I trust your ways are the best ways, far better than my own. Help me to study your word and show myself approved. I love and need you. Be my portion today and give me good health and patience.
